What’s a Dash Pass?
A Dash Pass is a tag for hanging in vehicle review mirrors or placed on the vehicle dashboard.
Who Needs a Dash Pass?
Since many streets surrounding Piedmont Park are closed to Resident Access Only, it will help to swiftly inform traffic officers you are a current resident when driving your vehicle through the neighborhood on event days.
Dash Passes enable efficient visual communication to officers posted at traffic barricades that the vehicle is attributed to a local address, rather than an event patron or general traffic.
Do Dash Passes work as Parking Passes?
No, Dash passes are not parking passes. Dash Passes do not provide parking on Resident Access Only streets, they merely grant access past the traffic barricades. All standard and posted parking laws still apply on the other side of the traffic barricades.
Note: during special events, illegal parking fines may increase significantly for parking in a posted residential parking area without a city-issued residential parking permit.
How To Get a Dash Pass
Proof of residency is required to obtain Dash Passes for Resident Access Only streets: (1) a valid ID, and (2) current utility bill OR a current lease agreement.
We highly recommend neighbors pre-verify their residency prior to Dash Pass pick up. To pre-verify your residency please fill out the Dash Pass Residency Verification Form below.
DASH PASS RESIDENCY VERIFICATION FORM
Upon submission verification, neighbors will receive a confirmation via email with pick up instructions. The email does not have to be presented for pick up.
Neighbors who do not pre-verify residency may still verify in-person by presenting proof of residency either with (1) a valid ID, and (2) current utility bill OR a current lease agreement at the Dash Pass Pick-Up.
Dash Pass Pick Up Info
Dash Pass Pick Up @ Shaky Knees Box Office
- Wednesday, September 16 from 12pm – 7pm
- Thursday, September 17 from 12pm – 7pm
- Friday, September 18 from 10am – 3pm
The Shaky Knees Box Office is located behind the Piedmont Park Community Center inside the 12th Street Entrance. The box office is behind the Community Center, not inside it.
Dash Pass Pick Up at the Shaky Knees Box Office is pedestrian access only. Because the Box Office is inside Piedmont Park, there is no vehicle access.
Dash Pass Pick Up line is separate from the ticketing lines. Once at the Box Office, look for the Neighborhood Info/Dash Pass Pick Up signage on the left side of the tent.
Dash Pass Pick Up does not last for the entire duration of Box Office hours. Dash Passes may only be picked up from Dash Pass Pick Up during the hours listed above.
What If I Can’t Obtain a Dash Pass During Pick Up Hours?
Impacted neighbors who are unable to obtain a vehicle dash pass during Dash Pass Pick Up should NOT contact the Shaky Knees Box Office, and can instead do one of the following:
- Pre-verify residency and have another person present a photo of your ID at Dash Pass Pick Up to obtain your Dash Pass
- Ask a neighbor to include your vehicle count in their Dash Pass verification request
- Pro-tip: neighbors can send a person they designate with a photo of their valid photo ID to pickup everyone’s passes at once
- Ask the officer at your traffic barricade if they have any Dash Passes; remaining Dash Passes have been distributed to the officers at the traffic barricades as of 4:00pm on 9/18
If unable to obtain a Dash Pass, please:
- Identify yourself as a Resident to the traffic officer at the barricade
- If requested, present ID with your residential address (and a recent utility bill if your address is not up to date on your ID)
Neighbors experiencing a unique barrier to obtaining Dash Passes, please email us at neighborhood@shakykneesfestival.com, and let us know your situation so we can explore what’s possible.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Should there be a large accumulation of attendee-related trash on your property (keep in mind most of the clean-up occurs overnight and in the morning each event day), please email us at neighborhood@shakykneesfestival.com.
The clean up crew will begin working each day of the event from the outside (in the neighborhood) to the inside (within the park). Clean up crews may be cleaning in the streets overnight until roughly 3am, returning at daylight for anything previously unseen.
